Have faith in Allah and His Messenger and spend for His cause out of what is entrusted to you. Those who believe and spend for the cause of Allah will have a great reward.

Income Sources and Commercial Ventures

Financial Operations of Al-Bi'that Trust

The foundation of any system is rooted in a theory upon which its structure is built, but the successful implementation of that theory depends greatly on a sound financial system. The financial operations of the Al-Bi’that Trust in Pakistan can be briefly described as follows:

Under this domain, the institution undertakes various activities to meet its financial needs. Donation boxes are placed in thousands of households across the country, with appointed representatives responsible for collecting the donations. These representatives not only gather the contributions but also distribute educational materials to these households. Additionally, the institution seeks approval from religious authorities to ensure that the use of funds aligns with religious guidelines. Public donations form one of the primary sources of income for the institution.

Moreover, a dairy farm has been established to meet the needs for milk and meat, while a general store has been set up to support commercial activities and objectives.

FINANCIAL SYSTEM OF KHUMS AND ZAKAT, AND CHARITABLE DONATIONS

The Collection of Khums and Zakat

Khums and Zakat are fundamental obligations in Islam, prescribed for every eligible individual as part of the broader Islamic financial system. Recognizing their significance, the Bait-ul-Ilm Trust in Pakistan has appointed representatives in various regions to educate the public about the importance of these contributions and to facilitate their collection. A portion of the funds collected through Khums and Zakat, authorized by mujtahids, is allocated to support the poor and deserving individuals in the community. Another portion is dedicated to strengthening the Bait-ul-Ilm Trust’s institutions, ensuring the sustainability of its initiatives.

Charitable Offerings and Donations (Box System)

Charitable offerings and donations represent another vital aspect of the Islamic financial framework. To streamline their collection, the Bait-ul-Ilm Trust has implemented a comprehensive box system with the following responsibilities:

  • Introducing the system to households in cities, towns, and villages across Pakistan.
  • Collecting monthly donations and charity from boxes placed in believers’ homes.
  • Addressing believers’ concerns, including juridical, familial, ethical, financial, and social issues, to the best of the Trust’s abilities.
  • Providing monthly magazines and educational materials to promote intellectual and practical growth among the community.
  • Collecting additional funds through sacrificial offerings on Eid-ul-Fitr and animal sacrifices on Eid-ul-Adha.

The System of Endowment and Charities

Historically, endowments have served as a cornerstone for sustaining Islamic centers of learning and ensuring their independence. The Bait-ul-Ilm Trust is actively working to revive this tradition by highlighting the virtues and importance of endowments. These efforts aim to strengthen the Islamic financial system and support academic, religious, and community-building initiatives. Through education and advocacy, the Trust seeks to inspire believers to contribute to this enduring system of charity and sustainability.

The collection of Khums and Zakat:

Islam has made Khums and Zakat obligatory on every capable individual, constituting a significant part of the Islamic financial system. In this regard, the Al-Bi’that Trust in Pakistan has appointed representatives across various regions of the country. These representatives educate people about the importance and necessity of Khums and Zakat, collecting these funds in their respective areas. Notably, a portion of the funds collected through Khums and Zakat, with the authorization of mujtahids, is allocated to strengthen the system, support the poor and deserving individuals in the region, while another portion is reserved solely for the institutions of the Al-Bi’that Trust.
